The following explains why Call of Duty cannot run on Windows Server and is only supported on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
1. Windows Server 2025 Is Not a Supported Gaming OS
- Call of Duty: Warzone’s official PC support only covers Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop editions. The official troubleshooting documentation repeatedly specifies support for those client versions of Windows. Activision Support+1
- There is no official support for Windows Server editions (including Windows Server 2025) in the Warzone system requirements. Activision Support
- Game Launchers and Anti-Cheat: Launchers and anti-cheat drivers (Ricochet) are designed and tested on Windows 10/11 desktop environments. Server editions often lack gaming-focused components or include security/hardening defaults that break these drivers.
- Kernel-Level Dependencies: Modern anti-cheat systems often require specific OS environments (kernel driver signing, secure boot states, TPM configuration). These may not behave as expected on Windows Server releases and can prevent the game from initializing correctly.
