The following explains CS2 loading speed based on our internal testing with a 1 Gbps network port on the client.
- The following launch-time behavior for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) in windows 11 was observed:
- First launch after Windows boot:
The time from clicking the Play button in Steam to reaching the CS2 main page is approximately 40–60 seconds.
This longer duration is expected, as it includes initial asset loading, cache creation, and background service initialization. - Second and subsequent launches (same Windows session):
When CS2 has already been launched once and Windows remains running, the loading time is reduced to approximately 20 seconds.
This improvement occurs because required game assets and shaders are already cached in memory and on disk. - These results are considered normal and within expected performance parameters for a diskless setup using CCBoot and a 1 Gbps client network connection.
